Diane Zajac Sustaining Your Self-Esteem in the Face of Resistance
Where we hear about:
- Change is hard – it’s not personal.
- Self-esteem is important – here’s a toolkit for keeping yours healthy.
- It takes effort to practice self-care - figure out what you need BEFORE you need it.
Many of us have been inspired by the agile values and principles. We envision a better way of working. We picture happy customers and increased profits. We imagine a culture of learning fast and experimenting our way toward software nirvana.
The reality is that applying the agile values and principles is HARD. We are trying to change systems that were designed to get the most widgets produced per person. Our one voice barely registers in the cacophony of bureaucracy, rigid rules and stifling culture.
As a change agent, how do you face these challenges without becoming personally defeated? What can you do to keep your spirits up while your ideas are being shot down? How can you protect your self-esteem when you feel like you’re not making a difference?
